The program «University Cluster» was founded by Institute for System Programming of Russian Academy of Sciences (ISP RAS), Hewlett-Packard, Joint Supercomputer Center of Russian Academy of Sciences RAS (JSCC RAS), Synterra Group of Companies (the national communication carrier of Russia) and supported by Ministry of Communications of the Russian Federation and the Agency for Youth Affairs of the Russian Federation at September 4, 2008.

Conference «Parallel and Cloud Computing: Education. Research. Development»

The conference «Parallel and Cloud Computing: Education. Research. Development» is a part of non-profit initiative «University cluster» The initiative was founded by industry leading companies (Hewlett-Packard Russia, national communication operator «Synterra») and Institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ISP RAS, JSCC RAS) with support of Ministry of communications of the Russian Federation and Agency for Youth Affairs of the Russian Federation. The program is aimed to increase the use of parallel, distributed and cloud computing in education and research in Russian universities. Since 2008, more than 80 educational, scientific and industrial organizations from Saint Petersburg to Vladivostok have joined the program. Intel, Microsoft, NVIDIA and other companies became partners of the program.

Big Data Open Lab

September 4, 2014. Big Data Open Lab was founded by ISP RAS and Dell in association with CompTek company as center of excellence for development and promotion of Big Data Analytics Technology in Russian science and business community. The laboratory was opened facility for testing and pilot projects. Now under Big Data Open Lab all organizations, related to large volumes of data - oil and gas producers, banks, medical and educational institutions, development and building organizations, industrial enterprises - will be able to receive an expert appraisal of Big Data technologies utilization efficiency in certain problems solving as well as technical support for test projects implementation.

CUDA Research Center

CUDA Research Center at the Institute for System Programming of Russian Academy of Sciences. Institute for System Programming of Russian Academy of Sciences (ISP RAS) is one of the leading IT research institutes in the Russian Academy of Sciences. ISP RAS R&D directions include parallel and distributed programming, compiler technologies, cross development tools for embedded systems, data bases (including semantic web technologies) and others. Several projects are developed under contracts with Intel, Microsoft Research, HP, Linux Foundation, Samsung, and various government funds and agencies. The CUDA Research Center at ISP RAS is formed out of Compiler Technology Department (CTT).

Russian Center of Excellence of the Open Cirrus project

Russian Academy of Sciences became the first Eastern-European organization to join Open Cirrus project like Russian Center of Excellence (RCE). The main goal of RCE is creating infrastructure in scope of Open Cirrus project and support researches working in community in order to increase expertise of Russian researches, including their participation in software development of the infrastructure projects of Open Cirrius.RCE has distributed structure and include:

  • Institute for System ProgrammingRussian Academy of Sciences;
  • Joint Supercomputer Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences;
  • Russian Research Center "Kurchatov Institute".

JSCC RAS and RRC KI provide access to 800, 256 processor cores respectively including management.

ISP RAS undertakes obligation to be an integrator of distributed resources from JSCC, RRC KI and ISP RAS itself (80 cores), as well as training, consulting and involving new researchers and new resources.
